Plain-English terms for everything sold on rattlecancollective.com: beats, NILS and mixing & mastering. Everything here is sold by Rattle Can Collective LLC, a Washington limited liability company.

Delivery
Lease MP3s and NILS serials are delivered the moment you pay: on the page you land on after checkout, and by email. Exclusive stems are emailed within 24 hours of payment, usually much sooner.
- Lease: the untagged MP3 of the beat, as a download link on the thank-you page and in your order email. The link works for 60 days; save the file somewhere safe.
- Exclusive: the full stems ZIP (every part of the beat on its own track), sent personally. Once an exclusive is sold the beat comes off the store.
- NILS: your own serial number, shown on the thank-you page and emailed to you. Each serial is issued to one order and carries its own name and number (for example “RCC customer 0042”), which NILS shows as licensed. The NILS installers are a free download on the site; the serial unlocks it after the 72-hour trial.
Closed the page, or lost the email? Find your order with your email and order number. Stems not there after a day? Check your spam or promotions folder first, then email support@rattlecancollective.com with your order number and we will send it again. Lost your files or serial later on? Ask, and we'll resend them free.
Refunds
Beats
Every beat has a free preview, so please listen before you buy. Because the files are digital and can't be returned, all beat sales are final once your files are sent.
If your files never arrive, or arrive damaged or incomplete, email us and we will send working files right away. If we can't deliver what you paid for, you get your money back.
NILS
Every download of NILS is the full plugin with all of it unlocked for 72 hours, so you can try everything before you pay. For that reason a serial number is not refundable once it is issued, as section 3 of the NILS license agreement says.
Mixing & mastering
Price, scope, revisions and any deposit are agreed by email before work starts, and those terms apply to the project.
Your rights under the law
Nothing in this policy takes away a right you have under the consumer laws of the place where you live.
Beat licenses
Every beat is sold under the same two licenses. The agreements below are the full terms; the table on the home page is the plain-English summary.
- Lease: untagged MP3; up to 5,000 sales or downloads, 100,000 audio streams, 1 monetized music video and non-profit live shows. Non-exclusive: other artists may lease the same beat.
- Exclusive: full stems; unlimited sales, streams, videos and live shows. The beat is removed from the store. Leases sold before the exclusive stay valid.
- Both: credit the beat as "Prod. by Lloyd Cris" wherever credits appear, and Lloyd Cris keeps 50% of the publishing.

NILS license
NILS is licensed to you, not sold. The agreement that comes with the installer is below in full: the 72-hour trial, what your serial lets you do, and the refund terms.

Please read this agreement before installing NILS. By installing or using NILS you agree to it. If you do not agree, do not install NILS.
1. The free trial
NILS may be installed and tried free of charge for 72 hours, counted from the first time it is opened on a computer. During the trial every part of NILS works. When the trial is over, NILS passes audio through unchanged and does no processing until a serial number is entered. The trial is one per computer; it is not extended by reinstalling NILS or by changing the computer's clock, and NILS keeps a small record of the trial's start on the computer for that purpose (nothing about you or your computer is sent anywhere).
2. The licence
NILS (the plug-in, the PREP command-line tool, the manual and the tutorial videos) is licensed to you, not sold. When you have paid for a serial number, Rattle Can Collective gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use NILS on the computers you own or use yourself, for your own music, including commercial releases. The music you make with NILS is yours: there are no royalties and no credit is required.
3. The purchase is final
Because NILS can be tried in full for 72 hours before any purchase, a serial number, once issued, is not refundable, except where the law of the place you live gives you a right that cannot be waived, or where the store you bought it from offers a refund under its own policy.
4. Your serial number
Your serial number carries your name and is for you alone. Do not share it, publish it or sell it. A serial number that has been shared or published may be deactivated in a later version of NILS.
5. What you may not do
You may not copy NILS for others, rent, lend, resell or redistribute it, or remove or get around its activation or its trial, except as the law expressly allows despite this restriction. You may not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble NILS except as the law expressly allows.
6. Ownership
NILS and its name, logo and design belong to Rattle Can Collective. Parts of NILS are open-source software made by others; they are used under their own licences, which are listed in THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.txt, and nothing in this agreement limits the rights those licences give you.
7. Updates
Updates may be offered from time to time. This agreement applies to them unless they come with a new one.
8. No warranty
NILS is provided "as is". Rattle Can Collective makes no promise that NILS will be free of errors or will meet every need, and to the extent the law allows, gives no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Keep backups of your sessions and recordings.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Rattle Can Collective is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost data, recordings or profits, arising from the use of NILS. Its total liability is limited to the price you paid for NILS. Some places do not allow these limits; there, they apply only as far as allowed.
10. Ending the licence
This licence ends if you break this agreement. When it ends, you must stop using NILS and remove it.
11. The law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of the place you live says otherwise for consumers.

Mixing & mastering
Mixing and mastering are priced per project. Email support@rattlecancollective.com with what you have and what you need; the price, scope, delivery date and number of revisions are agreed in writing (by email) before work starts. You keep all rights to your music. We may mention or play a short part of a finished project as an example of our work only with your permission.
Privacy
What we collect, and why
- When you buy: your name, email address, what you bought and the amount. We use them to send your files or serial, to answer you, and for our tax and accounting records.
- When you email us: your email address and what you write, to answer you.
- When you download NILS: your email address, the system you picked (Windows or Mac) and when. We use them to email you the download link and, at most, one reminder before your 72-hour trial ends. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link, and we never sell or share the list.
- Your card details never reach us. Payments are handled by Stripe or GoDaddy Payments, under their own privacy policies.
What the site stores on your device
The site keeps your cart, the email you typed in the cart or the NILS download box, and your radio and mute settings in your own browser's storage so they are still there when you come back. That information stays on your device and is not sent to us. The site does not use advertising cookies or ad trackers.
Services the site loads from others
- GoDaddy hosts the site. Like every web host it keeps standard server logs (such as your IP address and the pages requested), and it adds its own small traffic-measuring script to the pages.
- Google Fonts supplies the site's lettering, so your browser fetches fonts from Google.
- Spotify supplies the 30-second song clips and covers RCC Radio plays, which your browser fetches from Spotify.
- Stripe and GoDaddy Payments run the checkout pages when you pay.
NILS
NILS works fully offline. It keeps a small record of the trial's start on your computer, and nothing about you or your computer is sent anywhere.
Sharing, keeping and deleting
We never sell or rent your information, and we share it only with the services above to run the store, or when the law requires it. Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, email support@rattlecancollective.com. The site is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Terms of sale
- Seller: Rattle Can Collective LLC, a Washington limited liability company. Beats are produced by Lloyd Cris.
- Prices are in US dollars. Sales tax is added at checkout where it applies.
- What you buy is a license to use the beat or software under the agreements on this page, not ownership of the beat or the software itself.
- Sold or wrongly priced items: if a beat's exclusive sold just before your order went through, or an item was listed at an obvious wrong price, we will tell you and refund that item in full.
- Changes: we may update these policies; the version in force when you bought applies to your purchase.
- Law: these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, except where the law of the place you live says otherwise for consumers.
